Biography

Shelly is an experienced mental health nurse who has had a varied and interesting career in the health and social care sector. Shelly is also an artist who is an exhibiting member of the Animal Artists Association.

Shelly completed her nurse training at the University of Nottingham. She then went on to complete her degree in health and social care with Sheffield Hallam University. Shelly has also studied for her PGCert in Clinical Supervision at the University of Derby.

Upon gaining her qualification in supervision, assessment and education in practice with Sheffield Hallam University. Shelly very quickly became involved in student education and quality assurance and after 12 years in acute and rehabilitation services left her nursing role to pursue her passion for training and education within the NHS.

Shelly became a practice teacher in 2009. During her career in learning and development Shelly developed and delivered training, quality assured and managed student placements, worked as a practice partner and guest lecturer/ speaker with provider universities on curriculum planning and development, placement capacity, NMC validation events, university interview and selection days and conferences.

In 2019 Shelly changed career to take on the role of the Nottinghamshire pre-registration nursing standards and support lead where she was employed by the Nottinghamshire Nursing and Midwifery Cabinet to project manage the roll-out of the new NMC pre-registration education standards. During this time Shelly worked across sector boundaries to agree an East Midlands-wide training passport for all NHS staff supporting students in practice. During this time Shelly developed training that was taken-up nationally and her work was showcased by Health Education England. As part of the project Shelly also worked alongside the Nursing and Midwifery Council, The Midlands, Yorkshire and East Practice Learning Group (MYEPLG) and the Royal College of Nursing. Shelly also made a guest appearance for the MYEPLG alongside Professor Mark Radford Chief Nurse for HEE & Deputy Chief Nursing Officer of England due to her expertise on the new standards.

Prior to joining our team, Shelly worked within the Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System where she looked after the current and future workforces educational and development needs for primary and social care.
