Biography

Heather joined West Nottinghamshire College in September 2019 as a part-time English teacher. During her extensive 28-year career she has taught in higher education, further education and secondary schools in the UK and abroad.

Having graduated in 1988 she taught English at Bromley College of FE and HE. She then moved on to become course tutor for the City and Guilds 7307 Further and Adult Education Teacher’s Certificate. In 1992, after gaining her Master of Arts degree in Education and Training, she lectured at the University of Greenwich on their PGCE programme.

After taking a 7 year career break whilst her children were young, she moved abroad and became head of English at a thriving British International School in southern Spain where she was responsible for managing the English provision (KS3, KS4 and KS5 GCSE English and GCE A Level English). In 2013, she moved back to the UK and has been teaching in FE on a part-time basis.

Heather enjoys reading, experimenting in the kitchen, visiting the theatre and skiing.
