Biography

Ella has worked as an animal teacher in FE for 6 years. Prior working here at West Notts she worked at Portland College for 2 years teaching animal care and Functional Skills. Ella really enjoys her job at West Notts as she gets to learn lots of new and interesting facts about animals that she loves sharing with her students.

Ella had a passion for the natural environment and animals from a young age and decided she wanted to work in the industry, so Ella went to Brackenhurst College and studied a BTEC National Diploma in Countryside Management. She then went on to obtain a degree in Environmental Design and Management. Ella worked for the Wildlife Trust volunteering out on their environmental work parties days, but it was when she started working in their education department that she found her true calling: teaching the next generation why the natural world is so important which lead her to complete her PGCE.

Alongside her teaching role Ella helps manage the on-site unit as one of the animal technicians working with a range of fascinating animals her favourite being an Uromastyx called Ursula

Ella has worked with many external partners including White Post Farm, Willow Tree Farm and Floralands.

During her spare time Ella loves visiting zoos and natural history museums.
