Employability Skills for Jobseekers
Are you a jobseeker looking to build confidence and develop the essential skills needed to secure employment?
This adult-only (19+) part-time course is designed for individuals who may be feeling stuck, unsure how to present themselves to employers, or in need of guidance navigating today’s job market.
This practical and empowering course focuses on helping you recognise your strengths, improve your employability skills, and take confident steps towards work.
Do not worry if you have been out of education for some time. Our tutors have many years of experience supporting adult learners back into the classroom and will guide you every step of the way. You will study in small, supportive classes alongside other like-minded adults, creating a relaxed and encouraging environment where you can rebuild confidence and move forward positively.

Career Kickstart
Boost your motivation, set realistic and achievable career goals, and learn effective job search strategies to help you move forward with purpose.
CV and Cover Letter Crafting
Understand how to tailor your CV to specific roles and discover how persuasive, targeted cover letters can help you stand out to employers.
Mastering Job Applications
Learn how to complete job applications accurately and confidently, including guidance on disclosing convictions appropriately and accessing available support services.
Interview Mastery
Develop strong interview skills, practise using the STAR technique, and gain a clear understanding of employer expectations in the workplace.
By the end of the course, you will feel more confident in your abilities, better prepared for job opportunities, and ready to take the next step towards employment.

Elibigiblity to attend for free:
- Aged 19+ (on the start of the course)
- Living in eligible postcodes
- Annual income is less than £33,796.80 and you live in the EMCCA area (Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire) OR your annual income is less than £25,750 and you live outside the EMCCA area (non-devolved)
- Economically inactive** but seeking work
- Claiming one of the eligible benefits.

Starting something new can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to do it alone. From careers guidance to mental health and wellbeing, we’re here to support you before you apply and throughout your time with us.
- Entry requirements
This course is only available to adults aged 19+.
- Attend an assessment centre before the start of the course
- Achieve a minimum of an Entry Level 3 on a literacy assessment whilst attending the assessment centre.

This is a non-accredited course therefore no formal assessment will take place.
