Overview

This qualification develops learners' knowledge and skills in the area of children and young people's mental health.

The successful learner will understand the factors affecting mental health and a range of common conditions experienced by children and young people.

What will I study?

  • Best practice relating to children and young people's mental health
  • Living with children with mental health conditions
  • Signs, symptoms and diagnosis of mental health concerns
  • Sources of information, support, legislation and guidance relevant to mental health concerns.
  • Entry requirements
    • No specific entry requirements, a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
    • Applicants must live in England and not live in the locations listed here
    • Applicants must have been living in the UK for the last 3 years
  • Assessment

    The qualification is assessed by internally set and marked assessments subject to external quality assurance.

    All learning outcomes and assessment criteria must be met to achieve a Pass – there is no grading.

  • Progression

    Options to consider available through other training providers:

    • Certificate in Understanding Mental Health Care - Level 3
    • Aware in the Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 - Level 3 
    • Diploma for the Children and Young Peoples Workforce - Level 3
