HND Creative Media Production


The HND in Creative Media Production mixes cutting edge digital tools with innovative creative thinking to equip you with the skills required in the design and media industries.

With over 50% of course projects working directly with clients the course is aimed at students entering a wide range of careers in digital design, 3d modelling and animation, TV and film, post-production and motion graphics.

This is a modular course with assessment through practical projects, giving you a valuable experience of working to professional briefs.

Training will be offered in the latest industry standard software for design, visual effects, 3D and post-production alongside state-of-the-art VR, film and TV production techniques.

You will also have the opportunity to go on local, national or foreign trips to broaden your creative horizons and opportunities, experiencing creative media at work in a variety of contexts.

This course is validated by Pearson Edexcel.

Entry requirements

To start this course, you will need to have successfully completed a minimum of one of the following:

  • At least 64 UCAS points (160 points as per 2016 tariff) at A Level in appropriate subjects.
  • Appropriate BTEC National Extended Diploma with MMM profile or above.
  • Alternatively, we will consider substantive experience in a relevant field.

We normally require three GCSEs at grade C/grade 4 or above, including English language. English at Level 2 is an essential requirement and maths at Level 2 is desirable. 

Please note that maths at Level 2 is required for progression onto the BA (Hons) Applied Studies (Creative Digital Media) (top-up) award or other programme beyond a HND course.

How long is the course?

This is a two year, full-time course. Participation in some evening events also forms a necessary part of the HND. You will also need to dedicate a substantial amount of time to research and study outside of the classroom.


How will I be assessed?

Assessment methods are varied and include written reports, presentations, critiques, portfolios, practical projects and professional design briefs.

What does the course lead to?

Completion of this course will enable you to progress into a range of careers and employment opportunities in areas such as motion graphics and visual effects, TV and film production and editing, 3D modelling and graphic design.
