HNC Computing - Level 4

Overview

This programme is designed to develop your skills and knowledge in areas such as computer networks, and server and security management. The course is modular and the content is designed to be flexible enough to provide you with underpinning knowledge in all subjects. You will also have the opportunity to explore a range of areas in more detail, to meet your individual needs.

This course is validated by Pearson Edexcel.

Entry requirements

To start this course, you will need to have successfully completed a minimum of one of the following:

  • At least 64 UCAS points (160 points as per 2016 tariff) at A Level in appropriate subjects.
  • Appropriate BTEC National Extended Diploma with MMM profile or above.

Alternatively, we will consider substantive experience in a relevant field.

We normally require three GCSEs at grade C/grade 4 or above, to include English language and maths: English and maths at Level 2 are essential requirements.

Provisional timetables will be discussed at interview, and confirmed in the final joining instructions which all students will receive in July.

How long is the course?

This is a one year full-time course. 

You will also need to dedicate a substantial amount of time to research and study outside the classroom.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment methods are varied and may include written reports, presentations, case studies and individual/group projects that are client-based, giving you a valuable experience of working on a live brief.

What does the course lead to?

Completion of this course will enable you to progress into a range of careers, including network support, administration, security and management, programming in a variety of languages, website design or database development.
