Diploma in Creative Media Skills - Film and Television (Intermediate) - Level 2

This course is designed to prepare you for a wide range of career opportunities in the media and progression to higher-level courses.

In our modern world video production is everywhere. From YouTube to iPlayer we now live our lives visually. Welcome to the exciting world of broadcast media production. Study film and television from around the world and learn to make a range of quality media products, such as adverts, documentaries, dramas and radio programmes. Use the very latest technology and equipment. Develop skills in making video, using HD cameras, lighting techniques, Apple Mac editing systems and Adobe Creative Suite.

Take a look at our creative media production students in the classroom, where they learn the skills associated with the course as well as on location filming and in the studio using state-of-the-art equipment to edit their work.

Entry requirements

  • Four GCSEs with at least 3 points (grade D) supported by a minimum Level 1 literacy qualification or appropriate equivalent; Or
  • An appropriate Level 1 qualification with a merit grade.
  • A portfolio of evidence demonstrating your creative ability.

All applicants progressing from a Level 1 programme must be able to show a high level of commitment, willingness and teamwork.

You may also need to supply at least one written reference from a teacher or employer (in some cases two) and/or your current school or college report.

Mature students (those aged 21 or over) who do not have the qualifications required for entry may still be eligible. Relevant experience, a strong portfolio of work and a commitment to the subject you wish to study may be acceptable for certain courses.

This course will provide you with a comprehensive introduction to employment in a wide range of media industries.

Study programmes

It is an entry requirement for some courses to have gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths (see entry requirements). If the entry requirements to a course do not require A*-C in these subjects, and you haven’t already gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths before joining us, you will continue to study English and maths as part of your programme and take appropriate qualifications in these subjects with the aim of achieving A* to C grade. In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, every student aged under 19 and studying a full-time course at college will take part in our study programmes alongside their main subject qualification.
