Biography

Whilst Katharine specialises in Fashion and Textiles with qualifications in lingerie and fashion, promotion and illustration from UCA (University for The Creative Arts), she also has a second degree in Art History.

She started her career working backstage at London Fashion Week, before going on to work as a costumier for film and tv, specialising in steel-boned corsetry. She later moved on to work for Stella McCartney as she set up a lingerie line, and was a brand manager at Harvey Nichols, working with the lingerie department to manage, market and promote Bendon brands.

She has continued to develop her own practice and now works predominantly in leatherwork, as well as freelancing for a range of companies and independent designers. Recent projects have included pattern cutting and toiling for ASOS, pre-production product sampling for Kerv a contactless technology company and working for the National Trust on the redesign of Southwell Workhouse - replacing and producing all of the textiles at the site with period accuracy. Textiles skills were also put to use for an interior designer - having an initial meeting at Brian May from Queen’s house - and working in trend forecasting on future predicted fashion and textile trends.

Katharine has over 11 years’ experience in further and higher education, teaching fashion, textiles, printmaking, surface design, illustration, digital design and art history at levels 1 to 5.
