Salon springs into fundraiser for hospice

Posted: 05 May 2022

West Nottinghamshire College’s hairdressing and beauty therapy students have stepped into spring with an uplifting and revitalising treatment afternoon and fundraiser for clients at their Revive salon.

Students at the Derby Road-based salon have raised £308 for the John Eastwood Hospice in Sutton-in-Ashfield, at an event, which included pampering treatments, a prize raffle and refreshments.

Treatments such as manicures, massages and make-up application were provided by beauty therapy students, while hairdressing students got creative with hair-up appointments.

Guests were able to enjoy a range of hot drinks and cakes provided by the students while relaxing in the salon’s reception area, before the raffle was drawn which included prizes such as wine, beauty products, luxury manicures at the salon, meal for two at the college’s Refined restaurant, family tickets to Cannon Hall Farm, candles and scent sets, a month’s membership at Pure Gym and more.

Guest and client Jean Else attended the fundraising event with friends. She said: “We’ve attended these charity events before and we love coming. We’ve enjoyed having manicures and facials today and bought plenty of raffle tickets.

“The students work really hard at organising these events and it’s so relaxing and friendly being here and it’s all for such a great local charity.”

Head of department for hair and beauty, Nicholas Thorpe, said: “Once again our teams of staff and students in Revive have achieved great results in terms of a very enjoyable afternoon for our guests, as well as some professionally delivered treatments.

“We’re very proud to be able to forward a generous donation to John Eastwood Hospice in the near future and will continue to support this local hospice.”
