Fifteen customer services apprentices from A-Plant celebrated completing their one-year, Level 2 programme of learning with the college, while fellow employees collected a range of annual awards at the event held earlier this month.

A-Plant is part of Ashtead Group, an international equipment rental company with networks in the USA and Canada. The UK business trades under the name A-Plant with 192 stores across the country, supplying a range of equipment to general industrial, construction, infrastructure and event customers.

The apprentices took to the stage at the event, held at business client JCB’s headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire, to collect their certificates which mark the completion of the apprenticeship, which will now guarantee them a permanent job with A-Plant. The customer service advisors work across A-Plant centres in the UK.

Vision Business apprentice manager Nick Maidment said: “I’ve been one of the trainers for this year’s cohort and it’s been great to see these people develop and apply themselves in such a positive way.

“Not only have the apprentices successfully completed their apprenticeships but they’ve progressed in their roles while being the first pilots for the brand new customer service practitioner.”

Four other apprentices from the college scooped special awards at the ceremony, which included the apprentice of the year – general equipment industrial and Scotland award, the apprentice of the year – general equipment Midlands award, and the apprentice of the year – specialist light trophy.

A-Plant chief executive, Richard Thomas, said: “Apprentices are a vital part of A-Plant’s future, bringing fresh eyes to the workplace and creating a healthy and dynamic environment for the whole team.

“We’re extremely proud that our apprenticeship scheme has become much sought-after and believe our annual awards ceremony highlights the company’s commitment to training and celebrating the next generation of future leaders.”
