Students' tree cheers to ASDA

Students at Vision Studio School in Mansfield said a big thank you to ASDA for their festive kindness yesterday (18 December).

Staff from ASDA gifted the school, based on Chesterfield Road, a twelve foot Christmas tree for them to display throughout their first Christmas as a studio school.
Today saw Hayley Carrington, value champion, and Debbie Gibson, community life champion, from ASDA visit the school to see the tree decorated.
The store has also donated trees to King’s Mill Hospital’s antenatal unit, St Mary’s Church, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Carsic’s Community Church.
Principal of Vision Studio School Andy Campbell said: “We wanted Hayley and Debbie to come along and see the tree in all its glory after the students took time to decorate it.
“It’s really brightened up the dining area for the festive season and we’re very grateful to ASDA for supplying us with our first-ever studio school tree.”
Sponsored by West Nottinghamshire College, Vision Studio School has 125 students from Year 10 upwards who specialise in either engineering and transport, or health and care. There are plans for this to increase to a capacity of 300 students by its third year of operation.
The school is being supported by a host of employers from small and medium-sized enterprises to large public and private sector organisations that will mentor students deliver master-classes and provide regular work placements.
Year 10 students will spend one day per week in a work setting, rising to two days for students in Year 12. Students will also benefit from regular work experience alongside their academic and vocational study
