Students get the pounds rolling in for Pudsey

The fundraising spirit is rising this week at West Nottinghamshire College as students get ready for activities to support Children in Need.

Throughout the week the college’s Students’ Union is organising a range of fun events with the aim of raising over £1,500 for the national charity. Events include:
Wednesday 12 November – At 10am students will be hosting stalls in the covered courtyard at the Derby Road campus. They will be selling cakes and jewellery, doing face painting and henna tattoos and asking students to have their photograph taken in the photo booth.
Students will also be dressing up as Disney characters and touring college with Pudsey bear asking for donations to the charity.
At 12.30pm, more than 60 childcare students will be taking part in a flash mob in the covered courtyard, dancing to songs such as Cha Cha Slide and Superman.
Thursday 13 November – Members of the Students’ Union will be visiting college campuses with Pudsey bear, asking students to take part in the logo quiz game and selling Children in Need merchandise such as badges and key rings.
Pudsey will also be paying a visit to children at the Butterflies Day Nursery at the Derby Road campus.
Health and social care students will be hosting their own event in the covered courtyard from 12.30pm offering henna tattoos, dressing up, doing a Pudsey themed treasure hunt, selling tea, coffee and cake and doing a sponsored silence and guess how many sweets are in the jar and guess teddy’s name prize competitions.
Friday 14 November - Pudsey will be based at Derby Road touring the site throughout the day selling Children in Need merchandise.
President of the Students’ Union Will Jordan said: “This is my first largescale national fundraising day as president and already we’re seeing such a buzz from the students who want to get involved in one of the biggest fundraising efforts that the college organises.
“We’re sure to see some great fancy dress costumes and games to help bring the pennies in for Pudsey bear. I’m certain we can beat last year’s fundraising total.”
