Working with Children in Early Years and Primary Settings (Intermediate) - Level 2
Overview
This course provides you with the practical experience of a work placement to prepare you to gain employment in an early years setting or progress to a qualification with a full licences to practice with the early year’s sector.
Combining practical learning, theory and work placement this diverse course teaches the skills, knowledge and personal qualifications to support a wide range of careers, including becoming a primary teacher, nursey nurses and educational support assistants.
Besides completing mandatory early years work placement for two days per week, throughout the college year, you will also have the opportunity to take part in a learning company to develop your business skills.

Entry requirements
This course is only available to those aged 16-18 years.
- Grade 4 in English or maths, plus three other GCSEs at grade 3.
- You will need to attend an applicant event and have a successful DBS check.
- Students progressing from Level 1 will need to have attended an early years work placement and maintained at least 90% attendance.
If you are a young person who is not currently studying a traditional GCSE programme, we will consider alternative qualifications such as functional skills and vocational qualifications.

If you're a student between the ages of 16 and 18 (or 19 to 25 with an EHC Plan) we want to make sure you have the best possible chances of landing an awesome job once you finish college.
Students who haven't achieved a grade 4/C in GCSE maths or English to continue studying these subjects while you're here with us. By doing so, you'll be building a strong foundation of skills that will significantly boost your employability in the future.
Think of it as a chance to supercharge your knowledge and abilities. You'll be equipped with the tools necessary to tackle the world beyond college with confidence. Plus, we'll be right here to support you every step of the way.
In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, all students aged 19 and under and studying a full-time course with us will take part in our study programmes.

- You'll be assessed through a professional skills record with an early years and primary school setting.
- Written assignments and set tasks.
