For schools
We have an excellent track record for working in partnership with schools and agencies to extend learning opportunities for school based learners.
Our pathways offer adds breadth and variety to the curriculum, meeting the needs of local young people who want a specialised route of learning or need to re-engage with learning through a work/industry related course.

Pathways
There are two pathways on offer through Vision West Nottinghamshire College and schools partnerships for 14 – 16 year olds.
These two distinct pathways are designed to meet the needs of students and are on offer across various days during the week.
-
Pathway One - Specialised Pathway
West Notts Specialised Pathway is aimed at students who have the ability but would benefit from a practical learning experience in an industrial workshop environment, gaining relevant employability skills.
Programmes are tailored to the needs of learners and schools with programme, up to two years in length, offering learners in both key stage 4 and 5 the opportunity to add a vocational dimension to their studies through specialist courses and teaching expertise.
Young people study at college to develop vocational knowledge, understanding and skills, working towards nationally recognised specialist qualifications. Courses are available at Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2. There is an expectation that students will have an interest in their chosen subject and are able to work sensibly and independently.
This pathway is also ideal for year 12 learners who do not feel sufficiently confident to leave school and want to add a vocational/specialist strand to their studies. These programmes give students the opportunity to combine their general studies at school with specialised courses at college and are available at Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2.

Pathway Two – 14-16 Foundation Pathway
West Notts 14-16 Foundation Pathway is aimed at students who are not fully engaged in learning for a variety of individual reasons i.e. exclusion, disengagement, bullying etc; or for those young people that have continually struggled with academic studies. The aim is to re-engage and motivate young people back into learning through a vocational route of their choice.
This one year programme is on offer to Key Stage 4 and 5 students who, in the past, have not been engaged or who have shown little interest in their general education and learning. This programme offers vocational choices that lead towards national qualifications, attending up to three days per week during term time. There is also an opportunity to work towards Key Skills in literacy and numeracy as well as ICT and personal development.
The college also offers a one year transitional or bridging course for those students with additional learning and support needs that schools cannot offer post 16.
Students attend college on agreed days to access courses that aid their progression into Further Education, improving life and employment skills. The aim of this programme is to offer vulnerable students the opportunity of a staged progression route from school into college.
