If you have a disability you may be entitled to a Disabled Students' Allowance, which is money to help with costs you incur in attending your course as a direct result of your disability. You won't have to pay any of it back.

Check the guide called 'Bridging the Gap' which you can get from your Local Authority by calling 0800 731 9133 or from the website at www.dfes.gov.uk/studentsupport.

Help if you have children or other dependents

Students with children may be able to get a Parents' Learning Allowance to help with the cost of childcare. Students who have an adult who depends on them (other than their adult children) may be able to get an Adult Dependents' Grant.

To find out more, check the guide to 'Childcare Grant and Other Support for Student Parents in Higher Education', which is avaliable from your Local Authority by calling 0800 731 9133 or from the website at www.dfes.gov.uk/studentsupportforpart-time.
