Overview

A practical course aimed at young people with severe learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

Description

This course is designed to develop crucial life skills in students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities and aims to prepare them for independent living and employment.

How long is the course?

One year. Attendance options include Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday or Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Class times run from 9.15am to 4pm.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is through the completion of individual units.

What will I study?

The course content will cover the following:

- Communication skills

- Independent living skills

- Practical skills such as catering and community awareness

What does the course lead to?

Upon completion you can expect to progress to Entry Level 2 courses or gain work experience in a voluntary capacity.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but you will be expected to complete an assessment to demonstrate that you are working at an appropriate level.
