You will have the opportunity to explore a range of photographic techniques and procedures.

Description

Powerful images in the media, marketing and fashion dominate our lives. The images captured on film can often become a representation of a person, a place or a significant moment in history.

How long is the course?

1 - 2 years.

What will I study?

A study of photographic practices in the wider context of art and design will be explored, including style, genre and art traditions.

The history of photography will provide an insight into the creative, technical and cultural impact of photography on society.

What does the course lead to?

You can expect to gain employment in roles directly related to the skills developed on this course. Sports, fashion and press photography are just a few of the areas open to you upon completion of the A Level. Work in animation, journalism and illustration would also be relevant.

What can I go on to study?

You could choose to continue your study of Photography at degree level or opt for Media Studies, Film Studies, Film Production or Art and Design courses.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above, two of which must be English and Art. You will also need to have a portfolio of work to show to the course tutor.
