Obtaining this qualification will show that you have the skills needed to keep a care-provision organisation running smoothly.
Description
This two year qualification gives you the opportunity to build both your managerial and care skills, allowing you to help more people. It also fulfils the regulatory requirement for those looking to become managers of adult residential and domiciliary services.
This qualification is for those already working in health and social care. You might be an assistant or deputy manager, or a manager who has not yet achieved a recognised vocational qualification at this level.
For candidates who work as managers in the health and social care sector. Such as residential services for older people; residential services for younger adults; domiciliary care services; day services and community based services. Managers and assistant managers.
This qualification will guide and assess development of knowledge, understanding and skills in management practice within health and social care and serves as the required qualification for registration and regulatory requirements for the sector in England.
These qualifications replace the current Level 4 NVQ in Leadership and Management for Care Services and the Level 4 NVQ in Health and Social Care, which are accepted as entry requirements to a number of HEI programmes. These qualifications will be the accepted qualification for registration and regulation where appropriate and can demonstrate continuing professional development.
How long is the course?
This is a two year, part-time course.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is conducted in the workplace through observation of your duties and a range of other methods to include witness statements, reflective accounts, professional discussions and work products.
The evidence produced will be collated in an online e-portfolio to show you have met the required standards.
What will I study?
To achieve the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Adults Residential Management), learners must achieve a minimum of 80 credits. Learners must achieve 52 credits from mandatory units (501- 505, 510-511, 513-517) plus a minimum of 28 credits from optional units (519 – 570) of which 12 credits must be achieved from optional units (519-529). Please note: learners can only achieve a maximum of 6 credits if they choose units 530-537.
To achieve the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Adults Management), learners must achieve a minimum of 80 credits. Learners must achieve 53 credits from mandatory units (501-505, 510-511, 513-514, 516-518) plus a minimum of 27 credits from optional units (519 – 570) of which 12 credits must be achieved from optional units (519-529). Please note: learners can only achieve a maximum of 6 credits if they choose units 530-537.
To achieve the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social (Adults Advanced Practice), learners must achieve a minimum of 80 credits, 41 from mandatory units (501-505, 513-514, 516-518) plus a remaining 39 credits from the optional units available.
What does the course lead to?
This course will provide you with knowledge, understanding and professional skills that you can take with you as you move within the different care services.
The qualification will also support you if you pursue a career in nursing or any other specialist care areas.
Entry requirements
There are no formal academic entry requirements.
This qualification is for those already working in health and social care. You might be an assistant or deputy manager, or a manager who has not yet achieved a recognised vocational qualification at this level.
Ideally you will have at least six months' management experience in your current role or a combination of current and past experience to enable you to produce the evidence required.
