Law AS/A Level

Overview

Law shapes our lives in a variety of ways. It sets the terms of our employment, provides protection from harm and compensation for injury.

Description

In this course you will be exposed to a variety of teaching methods. We will also have several guest speakers and visits.

Law combines well with English, Psychology, Sociology, Economics and Business Studies A Levels.

How long is the course?

Both the AS and A2 take one year each.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through examinations in May / June, in the form of essay style questions.

Success rates

A2 pass rate for 2011: 100%.

What will I study?

Throughout this course you will study the following three different modules related to different aspects of law: Law making, Dispute solving and The concept of liability.

What does the course lead to?

A qualification in law is useful in many different industries and for a wide variety of job types. Options would include legal secretary, legal accounts or work within HR, administration or marketing.

What can I go on to study?

The A Level would also be the first step towards becoming a solicitor or a barrister with further study at university level.

Entry requirements

You must possess 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, one of which must be English.

You will be able to discuss all aspects of the course you have chosen, as well as any alternatives you may be considering.
