Overview

The ILM Award in Management Level 4 aims to give practising or aspiring middle managers a solid foundation for their formal development as a manager.

Description

This course qualification consists of two mandatory units which cover the core research, analysis and group working skills essential to practising or aspiring middle managers. 

How long is the course?

Attendance is by evening class over 12 weeks with tutorials as appropriate.

How will I be assessed?

The two mandatory units are assessed by work-based assignment.

What will I study?

'Understanding the management role' which examines organisation structure and function, the roles and responsibilities of middle managers and the effect of communication and interpersonal skills on managerial performance.  

The final element of the unit explores the evaluation of personal development opportunities. 

'Developing management skills' concentrates on developing skills in information gathering and analysis, plus reviewing research together with essential group discussion and evaluation skills.

What does the course lead to?

For those that wish to, a Level 5 Award in Management is possible by studying additional units.  Alternatively, you could go onto the Foundation Degree in Business Management.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are required to gain entry onto the course apart from an ability in literacy and numeracy to level 2.  You should be a practising or aspiring manager to have the opportunity to meet the assessment demands and have a background that will enable you to benefit from the programme.
