Overview

Our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses cover all levels of English proficiency, if English is not your main language.

Description

You will work on your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. This course will also support your citizenship needs, including content on Life in the UK.

Improving your English will make it easier to:

- talk to doctors and teachers
- understand the laws and customs of the UK
- progress in your career and education
- help your child with homework
- apply for British citizenship 

How long is the course?

34 weeks.

How will I be assessed?

ESOL Cambridge Skills for Life Exams:
- Speaking and listening
- Reading
- Writing

What will I study?

You will also study pronunciation, punctuation and English grammar to develop your pre-intermediate language skills.

What else can I do?

ESOL ICT.

What does the course lead to?

ESOL Entry 3.

What can I go on to study?

Community courses and other ESOL courses, part-time and full-time.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but you will need to undergo an assessment to determine your appropriate level of study.

Start dates

£776.00 or FREE if you receive JSA (Job Seeker's Allowance), ESA (WRAG), Income Support, Housing Benefit, Incapacity Benefit or Council Tax Benefit.

The table below shows you the week in which the course starts. You may be charged a fee for your course depending on your age and circumstances. If you are aged 24 or over and studying a qualifying Level 3, 4 or 5 course, the fee payable will be different from the one shown below, but you may be able to apply for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan to cover the costs.
