This course will provide you with an introduction to a career in the hairdressing and beauty sector.

The course will provide you with an introduction to the sector, providing an insight into the workings of a commercial salon and the career options available.

Alongside your qualification you will be required to complete three functional skills and one qualification in personal and social development.

How long is the course?

One year.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through practical observation, oral questioning, projects, assignments, written tests and portfolio work.

What will I study?

You will develop the skills required to assist in a hairdressing and beauty salon, supporting stylists and therapists. The course only has a small element of beauty therapy, the main focus is on haridressing.

Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
Presenting a professional image
Shampoo and condition
Styling women's hair
Plaiting
The art of hairdressing
Photographic make-up
Basic make-up
