Overview

The Graduate Diploma is a degree-level qualification designed to provide the knowledge and skills required for senior managers and specialist professionals to work at a strategic level. It is aimed at those wishing to gain recognition in the purchasing profession and the qualified status of MCIPS.

Description

The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) is the leading international body representing procurement and supply chain management professionals.

A CIPS qualification is widely regarded as an international benchmark of excellence, enhancing standards of professionalism and performance throughout purchasing and supply.

The course is delivered at this CIPS 'Centre of Excellence' by a range of tutors. The course co-ordinator has relevant industry experience and has MCIPS via the Graduate Diploma qualification.

How long is the course?

The course takes a minimum of one year depending on the chosen study pattern.

Attendance is part-time afternoon and evening each week to complete the course in one year. Alternatively, students can study either afternoons or evenings, leading to the level being completed in 18 to 24 months.

How will I be assessed?

Examinations are held during the third week of May and November each year. Candidates are required to submit entry forms and payment for examinations to CIPS. Details can be found on the CIPS website.

What will I study?

Five modules are studied at Level 6.

There are three core (compulsory) modules which are:

  • CIPS Leading and influencing in purchasing
  • CIPS Strategic supply chain management
  • CIPS Supply chain management in practice

There is a choice of two modules from the following planned options:

  • CIPS Legal aspects in purchasing and supply
  • CIPS Advanced project management

The following options may become available with sufficient demand.

  • CIPS Finance for purchasers
  • CIPS Strategic Public Sector programme management
  • CIPS Public Sector stakeholder and governance

What can I go on to study?

On successful completion you will be awarded the CIPS Graduate Diploma professional qualification and MCIPS.

You could progress to the Level 7 Executive Diploma. For details please see the CIPS website.

Entry requirements

Students must have achieved the CIPS Advanced Diploma (Level 5), or have been awarded exemptions by CIPS.

Please note, this does not include the study guides for each module, which can be purchased directly from CIPS.

CIPS registration fees and examination fees are also in addition to course fess, and paid directly to CIPS.
