The Foundation Diploma in Purchasing and Supply is designed to provide the necessary purchasing skills to those in operational or junior management roles.

Description

The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) is the leading international body representing procurement and supply chain management professionals.

A CIPS qualification is widely regarded as an international benchmark of excellence, enhancing standards of professionalism and performance throughout purchasing and supply.

The course is delivered at this CIPS 'Centre of Excellence' by a range of tutors. The course leader has relevant industry experience and has MCIPS via the Graduate Diploma qualification.

How long is the course?

The course takes a minimum of one year to complete depending on the chosen study pattern.

Attendance is part-time afternoon and evening each week, to complete the course in one year.

Alternatively, students can study either afternoons or evenings, which would lead to the level being completed in 18 to 24 months.

How will I be assessed?

Examinations are held during the third week of May and November each year.

Candidates are required to submit entry forms and payment for examinations to CIPS. Details can be found on the CIPS website.

What will I study?

The following modules are studied at Level 4, and are all core (compulsory).

  • CIPS Effective negotiation in purchasing and supply
  • CIPS Developing contracts in purchasing and supply
  • CIPS Measuring purchasing performance
  • CIPS Managing purchasing and supply relationships
  • CIPS Purchasing contexts

What can I go on to study?

Once complete, progression is to the CIPS Advanced Diploma in Purchasing and Supply (Level 5).

Entry requirements

You should have studied at least two A Levels or the equivalent as determined by CIPS.

Learners without prior qualifications must have at least two years experience in a business environment.

Students are required to register for student membership of the institute prior to starting the course where the level of entry to the CIPS programme will be advised by CIPS.

Please note: the fees listed do not include the study guides for each module, which can be purchased directly from CIPS.

CIPS registration fees and examination fees are also payable in addition to course fess, and paid directly to CIPS.
