BA (Hons) Business and Management (Top-Up)

Overview

This one year programme provides an excellent progression route for HNC/HND or foundation degree students to top-up their award to a full honours degree.

Description

The BA (Hons) Business and Management Degree is ideal for those who have studied a business and/or management related subject to Level 5, for example in public services, and wish to further their academic qualifications and/or professional experience.

This programme is validated by Leeds Metropolitan University.

How long is the course?

One year. Attendance is normally 8 hours over two evenings per week or one afternoon and one evening per week, with occasional all day events.

You will also need to dedicate a substantial amount of time to research and work outside of the classroom.

How will I be assessed?

Some assessment will be work-related and provide you with an opportunity to reflect on and apply your knowledge and skills effectively to employment-related situations. You will also complete a consultancy project as part of this award.

You will study eight of the following modules:

o          Strategic Marketing (prior reading/knowledge recommended)

o          Managing in a Mixed Economy

o          Managing Capability (prior reading/knowledge recommended)

o          Management of International Business

o          Small Enterprise Management

o          Innovation and Change

o          Personal and Professional Development 5

o          Work-Related Learning 5

o          Project Management

o          Effective Negotiation

What does the course lead to?

Completion of this top-up award would be the ideal stepping stone for anyone wishing to enter higher levels of management in the public, private or voluntary sectors.

What can I go on to study?

Upon completion you could opt to progress to a related masters degree programme.

Entry requirements

All applicants will be invited to an interview to discuss qualifications, experience and any other related issues. 

A minimum of a Merit profile at HNC/HND or at least an average of 50% from Level 5 study on an appropriate foundation degree is required. Other equivalent qualifications will also be considered.

Qualifications at Level 5 in related subjects and evidence of literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 are essential.
