Automated External Defibrillator

Overview

This course is suitable for anyone interested in enhancing their emergency first aid knowledge and will train individuals and company staff who require basic life support and automated external defibrillation skills.

Description

This course will provide the necessary skills to manage a patient that is unconscious and not breathing normally until the arrival of the emergency services. This course meets the guidelines of the UK and European Resuscitation Councils for Basic Life Support and the use of an AED.
In summary the content of the course is as follows: Introduction, Scene Safety, Basic Life Support, Automated External Defibrillation.

1 day.

How will I be assessed?

Students knowledge and skills are assessed throughout the course via the practising of essential criteria in small groups and applying them in a scenario.

What will I study?

The skills required to provide effective treatment to a patient before professional help arrives.

What does the course lead to?

A Health & Safety Executive recognised qualification that is valid for 1 year.

Entry requirements

Delegates must be physically able to carry out the practical procedures as outlined in the course description.

All delegates must hold either a current First Aid at Work or Level 2 Paediatric First Aid qualification in order to attend.
