Apprenticeship Hospitality Customer Service NVQ 2
Overview
This apprenticeship allows you to study towards a recognised qualification whilst in an employed position.
If you work in a hospitality based customer service role such as a receptionist then this is the apprenticeship for you.
Description
The apprenticeship will include:
- giving customers a positive impression
- promoting additional services and products
- processing information
- dealing with customers face to face
- ICT and telephone
- handling problems, queries and requests
How long is the course?
The course normally lasts one year.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be in the workplace and there will be a written test at the end of each unit.
Key skills will be delivered as one to one support or small groups and comprises of a project and exam. Exams can be taken in the workplace.
The technical certificate is delivered in the workplace.
You will also be given the opportunity to undertake these qualifications:
Food Safety in Catering Award at Level 2 or 3 *
Food Hygiene (RIPHH) Advanced Certificate *
Personal Licence Holders, National Certificate *
Health & Safety in the Workplace (CIEH) *

Success rates
The success rate is 67% for hospitality apprenticeships.
What will I study?
As part of your apprenticeship you will cover the following:
- NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service (hospitality)
- Technical Certificate Level 2 in Hospitality and Catering Principles
- Key Skills Level 1 in Communication
- Key Skills Level 1 in Application of Number
What does the course lead to?
As well as being qualified to offer all services as a receptionist there may be the opportunity of progression into a supervisory role and study towards an NVQ level 3.
What can I go on to study?
The apprenticeship can lead to an advanced apprenticeship at level 3 covering hospitality supervision and leadership. For this you will be required to work in a position supervising others.
Entry requirements
No previous qualifications are necessary for this apprenticeship; the entry requirement is that you must be in a customer service related employed position.
Start dates
The apprenticeship is free of charge.
During your apprenticeship your employer is obliged to pay you a wage at the minimum rate for an apprentice.
