Advanced Apprenticeship Motor Vehicle (Car or Motorcycle) NVQ 3
Overview
This advanced apprenticeship allows you to work as an apprentice whilst you study on light vehicle maintenance and repair. You must choose from either cars or motorcycles.
Description
During your advanced apprenticeship your focus will be the working on, servicing and repairs of either cars or motorcycles.
How long is the course?
24 months but can be achieved sooner if you have prior achievement or experience.
How will I be assessed?
The NVQ is delivered in the workplace. Your assessor will visit you once a month.
The technical certificate is delivered on day release at college.
Success rates
The success rate is 100% for the motor vehicle advanced apprenticeship.
What will I study?
As part of your advanced apprenticeship you will study the following:
- NVQ level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Cars or Motorcycles)
- Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Key Skills Level 2 in Application of Number
- Key Skills Level 2 in Communication
- Key Skills Level 2 in ICT level 1.
What does the course lead to?
You could go on to pursue a career as a mechanic in a supervisory role. Also the NVQ 3 qualification will allow you to fast track the MOT tester certificate.
What can I go on to study?
You can further your skills and experience by studying a foundation degree.
Entry requirements
You must have achieved a level 2 qualification to progress onto the advanced apprenticeship.
You must be in an employed position working at competent level where you would be able to diagnose and rectify a variety of common faults.
How much does it cost?
If you are between the age of 16 and 18 the apprenticeship is free of charge. If you are 19 and above your employer must pay a one off fee.
During your apprenticeship your employer is obliged to pay you a wage at the minimum rate for an apprentice.
