Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership (NVQ)

Overview

This advanced apprenticeship allows you to study towards a recognised qualification whilst in an employed position.

If you work in a hospitality based supervisor or leader role such as catering supervisor, team leader or manager then this is the apprenticeship for you.

Description

The advanced apprenticeship involves the following:

  • working in a supervisory or leader role within a catering establishment

  • producing rotas

  • supervising or leading working staff

  • controlling resources

  • maintaining health and safety

  • maintaining and ordering stock.

How long is the course?

Depending on the individual, the course normally lasts one year.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be in the workplace and there will be a written test at the end of each unit.

Key skills will be delivered as one to one support or small groups and comprises of a project and exam. Exams can be taken in the workplace.

The technical certificate is delivered in the workplace.

You will also be given the opportunity to undertake these qualifications:

Food Safety in Catering Award at level two or three *

Food Hygiene (RIPHH) Advanced Certificate *

Personal Licence Holders, National Certificate *

Health & Safety in the Workplace (CIEH) *

*Additional costs will be incurred.

Success rates

The success rate is 67% for hospitality apprenticeships.

What will I study?

As part of your advanced apprenticeship you will cover the following:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership
  • Technical Certificate Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership
  • Key Skills Level 2 in Communication
  • Key Skills Level 2 in Application of Number

What does the course lead to?

As well as being qualified as a catering supervisor, team leader or manager there may be the opportunity of progression in a management role and study towards a foundation degree.

What can I go on to study?

You could go on to study one of our foundation degrees.

Entry requirements

A previous relevant level 2 qualification is necessary for the advanced apprenticeship.

You also must be in a hospitality supervision and leadership related employed position.

How much does it cost?

The apprenticeship is free of charge.

During your apprenticeship your employer is obliged to pay you a wage at the minimum rate for an apprentice.

Before you can apply for this apprenticeship course you must already have found an employer who has agreed to take you on as an apprentice.
