Advanced Apprenticeship Driving Goods Vehicle NVQ 3

Overview

This advanced apprenticeship allows you to study towards a recognised qualification whilst in an employed position.

If you are interested in pursuing a career as a team leader or manager of drivers of goods vehicles then this is the advanced apprenticeship for you.

Description

As an advanced apprentice you will gain experience and qualifications whilst either leading or managing a team of HGV drivers.

How long is the course?

The course normally lasts up to 24 months, but can vary slightly depending on the individual.

How will I be assessed?

The NVQ will be delivered in the workplace where your assessor will visit you for support and assessment. 

The technical certificate and key skills will be delivered at college on day release.

What will I study?

Your advanced apprenticeship is made up of the following elements to complete your framework:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Driving Goods Vehicles
  • Edexcel BTEC Certificate Level 3 in Road Freight Logistics
  • Key skills application of number
  • Key skills communications

What does the course lead to?

You will be qualified as a HGV driver team leader or manager.

What can I go on to study?

You can further your skills and experience by studying a foundation degree.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved a relevant Level 2 qualification to progress onto the advanced apprenticeship.

You must be in an employed position in a supervisory role related to HGV driving.

Start dates

If you are between the age of 16 and 18 the apprenticeship is free of charge. If you are 19 and above your employer must pay a one off fee.

During your apprenticeship your employer is obliged to pay you a wage at the minimum rate for an apprentice.
