What will I study?
Working in business and administration - This unit gives an overview of what working in business administration can be like. In particular, understanding the roles of those they are working with, how to carry out routine tasks and appropriate ways to present yourself.
Creating business documents - The aim of this unit is to develop the skills to identify and produce a variety of business documents.
Making and receiving calls - This unit aims to develop your knowledge, skills and understanding of administrative tasks associated with making and receiving telephone calls.
Welcoming visitors - This unit aims to develop your knowledge, skills and understanding of administrative tasks associated with welcoming visitors.
Handling mail - This unit aims to assist in developing skills in handling mail and any aspects associated with it.
Financial transactions - The aim of this unit is to enable you to administer a petty cash system and manage customer accounts.
Organising meetings - This unit aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills to liaise with a line manager or colleague to make arrangements to hold a meeting and support the effective running of that meeting. In addition, you should be able to assist in the reproduction and distribution of minutes and other documents to the correct recipients after the meeting has taken place. You are not required to take the minutes themselves.
Handling diary systems - This unit aims to equip you with the ability to select, set up and effectively run a diary system.
Text production level 1 - This unit aims to equip you with the ability to produce, from handwritten and typewritten draft material, a variety of routine business documents to a standard that meets the business document production requirements of employment.
Word processing level 1 - This unit aims to equip you with the ability to produce, from handwritten draft and recalled text, using a word processor, four routine business documents to a standard that meets the requirements of employment.
Business presentation - This unit aims to equip the you with the ability to produce, from handwritten and typewritten drafts and from recalled material, a range of routine printed presentations, to a standard that meets the requirement of employment. You will follow a design brief to produce a master slide and manipulate solftware to incorporate a range of material and present it in different ways.
Mailmerge level 1 - This unit aims to equip you with the ability to create, amend and print datafiles and standard documents and print selected merge documents using merge facilities to a standard that meets the requirements of employment.
In addition, you will study functional skills in English, Maths and ICT.
Entry requirements
Four GCSEs at grade A-E which must include English and Maths, or Functional Skills at Entry Level 3 in English and Maths.
