Over 100 full and part-time learners from West Nottinghamshire College’s health, care and education school of learning will be picking up their certificates of achievement at a glittering ceremony next week.

Students will take to the stage at Mansfield’s Civic Centre on Monday evening (21 September) to collect certificates ranging from entry level all the way through to Level 3 from their last academic year with the college.

Principal and chief executive Asha Khemka OBE will be handing out a number of special awards such as the Alison Dawes award, given in honour of healthcare lecturer Alison Dawes who passed away in 2005.

Local health and care employers will be in attendance including staff from Innova House, a centre for patients with neuro-disabilities in Mansfield.   Innova House employs several West Nottinghamshire College care students and they will be sponsoring two awards on the night.

Associate director for learning in health, care and education, Janice Hill, said: “This annual event is where we get the opportunity to say well done and thank you to our students who are now ready to go on to further study or employment.  They really are a credit to the college as well as our local community.

“Many of our students go on to have successful careers in the health service and in childcare-related roles, as well as working within private care institutions.  Higher education is also a popular option for many our learners.  We look forward to Monday evening’s celebrations with them and our employer colleagues.”
