West Notts goes to the West End

Actors in training at West Nottinghamshire College took time away from the classroom last week to visit London’s West End.
Students enjoyed seeing Wicked, The Musical and The Comedy About a Bank Robbery
On Wednesday (22 February) the group of 34 students managed to squeeze in watching two West End Shows to expand their knowledge of theatrical productions.
Firstly, the group ventured to the Apollo Victoria Theatre to see ‘Wicked The Musical’ which is now in its 14th year in the West End. This musical is told from the perspective of the witches of the Land of Oz and the plot begins before and continues after Dorothy’s arrival in Oz from Kansas.
The second show they took in was ‘The Comedy About a Bank Robbery’ which is currently showing at the London Criterion Theatre.
The farcical plot is about the attempted heist of a priceless diamond owned by a Hungarian prince, sought after by a mean and moody jailbird called Mitch. He’s joined by a clueless corrupt guard at the penitentiary he has just fled and also the gold-digging Caprice – daughter of Freeboys who is the manager of the bank holding the diamond.
Kian Staley, a student on the 90 Credit Diploma in Performing Arts, said: “The Comedy About a Bank Robbery was so funny. I’ve never laughed so much in my life. It was a brilliant day out too and I’ll definitely go again.”
