A gastronomic delight is set to tempt the taste buds of diners at Vision West Notts’ Number 19 Brasserie this week.

Students Aidan Flanaghan, 22 and Heather Powditch, 20 will be graduating from their Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Kitchen and Larder with an evening of fine dining on Friday (20 April).

The duo are planning a five-course menu which includes a starter of confit duck leg with five spice noodles, a main dish of pork medallions and sage dauphinoise and a chocolate and orange trio with amaretto brulee and chocolate foam for dessert.

Heather, from Kirkby-in-Ashfield, currently works at the town’s Countryman Pub and Dining and hopes to broaden her horizons by traveling abroad once her course finishes.

She said: “I’d like to travel and try cooking some of the many different cuisines from around the world – particularly Spanish food.  Until then I enjoy getting inspiration for different dishes from the Masterchef programmes on television.”

Aidan, from Hucknall, who gets his inspiration from Gordon Ramsey, is aiming to gain employment after completing the course.

“I could see myself working in a good restaurant cooking up high-quality food, eventually moving up the ranks to be senior chef in a city restaurant,” he said.

Diners can book a table for the graduation meal, which costs £24.95 per person, by calling the No. 19 Brasserie on (01623) 413629. Tables will be available from 6.30pm.
