Derby Road campus closed Friday 10 September 2010.

There has been an incident involving some damage to a classroom ceiling at the college’s Derby Road campus.

As a precautionary measure and to safeguard the health and safety of our students and staff, we will be closing the Derby Road campus on Friday 10 September 2010 only. Students with an exam at Derby Road on 10 September should report as normal and they will be directed to a safe location for their exam. The nursery will remain open as usual as this is in a separate building and is therefore not affected.

All other college campuses remain open as usual.

We will be undertaking a thorough assessment of the situation over the weekend and will be making a further announcement through the local media and the college’s website on Sunday 12 September 2010.

What People Say

I would just like to thank you and your team for all the splendid work you have put in on behalf of our students from Holgate.

We have had lots of positive comments back from individuals about how the learning environment is different and how they appreciate being treated as adults, and of course not having to wear uniform.

They are extremely proud when they receive their certificates, which really cements the positive value of their learning to them.

The break from school timetable is often vital and helps behaviour back in school as well as giving them some personal responsibility.

Thank you again

Rick Briggs, Alternative Curriculum Coordinator - Holgate School
Brilliant programme – provides pupils with an alternative to main stream school – Basically it works – If we had kept KB at school he would have been permanently excluded and although his attitude and behaviour, at times, still leave a lot to be desired he has come a long way thanks to the programme and a very supportive team."
Nigel Bollans – Meden School
Jason commented that the students that attend college and school seem more mature than students that are just at school he feels this is down to a work placement and the adult environment in College which he feel that students seem to respond too. He feels they respond to no bells, first name terms etc.
