At West Notts College we have a designated team within the Schools Academy
who are responsible for the welfare and support of all school learners during their time
at the College.
The College environment is very different from school. We expect our learners to be responsible
for their own learning and behaviour while supporting their needs as they study with us.
You may need to be aware of the following differences:
- Supervision at the College during break times are at a lower level than those at school
- Learners need to be mature enough to cope with the adult environment of College
- Independent travel to and from College may be required
- No playground
- No bells to indicate the beginning and end of lessons
The benefits of studying within the adult environment of the College are far reaching and include:
- Learning in an adult environment
- Wider practical based learning
- Opportunities to try an industry before making choices at age 16
- Opportunities to progress onto a career path at the end of secondary education
- Qualification based courses
Expected levels of behaviour
It is a privilege to gain a place on a College/School Partnership course. However,
this place may be withdrawn if standards of behaviour are not met. We expect our
learners to behave in an appropriate manner that meets our expectations.
The College is not responsible for travel to and from sites, therefore it is expected
that young learners will be able to cope with independent travel.
Your involvement
If you would like to know more about the study pathways and our 14-16 provision,
then please feel free to attend any of our open evenings or the Celebration of
Achievement event, where we award our hard working students for their dedication.
We will also send out information booklets to you in the post and an annual
progression report that keeps you updated on your child's development.
